Back to work

Oh yay, WordPress changed the look of the editor – just when I was starting to get used to the old one of course. The icons looks pretty obvious so I should be okay to ramble on without too many issues 🙂

So it was my first day back at the office after being away for just over a week of vacation. That still meant having to wade through about 2300 emails. Now, it’s not like I had to read all of those. Most of the emails I get are just copies of reports that are sent to our clients about their backups so the content is time sensitive. Which means that anything more than a day old is “old news” and can be safely deleted. Anything that needed to be dealt with while I was away would have been by those that were still at the office.

Still, I took most of the morning to get rid of the bulk of the emails. In previous years, the distribution list where the reports were sent would have been in the backup server’s aliases file which I could easily modify so I would not get those emails while away. Nowadays unfortunately, the distribution list is in Exchange where I 1) don’t own the distribution list, and 2) it is more trouble than it is worth to get removed from the list for a short vacation.

I did get a couple things done besides dealing with the emails, so the day was not a total waste of time. Back to the regular grind tomorrow.

For those keeping track at home, we are getting the door of the van looked at by the dealer on Thursday. So I’ll keep everyone updated if I remember 🙂

Goodnight!

About cthibodeau

I am a baby-boomer who is now in his second career after spending 10 years in the military. I now work in the computer field, which also happens to be one of my hobbies. I also like to sing, play the guitar to accompany my singing, and play the piano when I practice (which is pretty much never these days)
