In this post I was going to talk about how hard it is to maintain your weight once you’ve lost it. Then I happened on the blog entry I made last May. In it, there is an entry with my current weight at the time: 177 lbs. It is kind of hard to make a case of how hard it is to maintain your weight when your current weight (as of last Saturday) is 177.5 lbs.
However, in the almost 6 months between those two entries, I have gone as low as 173 lbs and as high as 180 lbs. So that is why I titled this entry a roller coaster. I was going along slowly going down from 177 to 173 over the course of 4 months, and then these last two months I have gone from 173 to 180 and then settled around 177 the last 3 weeks or so – hence the roller coaster analogy.
In that 5 week period where I gained the weight, I basically didn’t care at all what I ate because I was tired of watching what I ate. Luckily I didn’t completely give up as I kept weighing myself every week so once I hit 180 my concern about throwing away all the progress I had made over the last couple of years re-awakened my resolution of not regaining the weight I lost.
I won’t lie and say that I’m really happy about having to keep watching what I eat – but I do realise that if I don’t want to go back to the old overweight me I will have to keep doing that on an ongoing basis.
