Look at this nice picture I took this morning from the deck windows. This is probably nothing surprising in this picture for those of you used to having snow on the ground during the winter months. We, and by that I mean those of us living in Victoria, are not used to seeing this at all!
Winter for us is normally day after day of rain, rain, and more rain. And that is the way I like it. Someone asked me a while back if I missed the snow. I told them that I loved rain because I did not have to shovel it. And shovel is what I have been doing these last few days. Bring back the rain!
In other news, the contract negotiations between the Government and the “lead proponent” for the Hosting Services is taking longer than expected still. The scheduled contract signing and employee turnover is now scheduled for February 16th. Add to the mix the fact that the changing economic conditions everywhere have lead the Government to look at ways to reduce costs and since we (the employees) all think that privatizing the Hosting Services would be more expensive than continuing the current services you can understand that there is some uncertainty as to what will transpire. I guess I should mention that the outsourcing of Hosting Services was never about saving money but rather about mitigating risk – whatever that means.
Oh well enough for now.
