Same old rut

I am falling back into the same rut I was about a year or so ago; the one where I do not put an entry in my blog because I cannot think of anything to write. As I did then, I need to go back to a routine of setting aside a set amount of time every night where I just sit at the computer and write.

I was on-call last week, until midnight Sunday, and I had one of our backup media servers crash and reboot. Unfortunately for us, it did not come back up all the way, wanting some manual intervention to fix some filesystem inconsistencies. Actually, this happened twice. The first time the server was out of commission for about 12 hours while I was able to catch the second occurrence before more than a couple of hours had elapsed.

We need to reiterate with the weekend helpdesk staff that we do need to be called whenever incidents are opened. The first server outage could have been solved in less than 2 hours if I had only been called when I should have. As it was I only found out because my phone was beeping at me when I woke up.

We have gone out and bought our Christmas tree. This time we splurged and got an extremely nice one. I actually have a couple of pictures of it – before it is decorated – but I of course did not get around to putting them online so I can show you how gorgeous it is. Maybe after I take pictures once it is decorated…

Good night!

About cthibodeau

I am a baby-boomer who is now in his second career after spending 10 years in the military. I now work in the computer field, which also happens to be one of my hobbies. I also like to sing, play the guitar to accompany my singing, and play the piano when I practice (which is pretty much never these days)
